Looking for Light
Glitter! I love it! It is so shiny and just makes me feel good!
I grew up in a Byzantine church with icons shining and glittering their way to my soul. They showed me the light that shines from heaven itself. Doesn’t the thought of that just make you so happy!
In today’s psalm we are told, “Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life.” Light is ever present in our spiritual life. We learn from a young age that Jesus is the Light and the Way. We imagine the light that shines down from heaven when we enter the pearly gates. The light is what leads us to Christ and in that light, we walk in the truth. Walking in truth strengthens our relationship with God.
Each and every day we awaken to the light of a new day. A day of new and wonderful possibilities. If we take the time to recognize our spiritual light each day, we will find ourselves closer to God. If we allow ourselves to see God’s sparkle and shine from the moment we open our eyes, we will also experience it far into eternity. We just have to follow Him.
