The Season of Hope Begins

Easter is the season of hope.

In the words of Pope Francis: “The Easter message of hope tells us concisely that the crucified Jesus, none other, has risen from the dead." Pope Francis added that God the Father raised Jesus, who accomplished His saving will by taking upon Himself our weaknesses, our infirmities, the weight of our sins, and even our death.

As a Jesuit School, one of our Apostolic Preferences is to accompany our students into a hope-filled future. We work at being a school in which our students can encounter the God of life, so they can in turn use the blessings God has given them to reach their full potential as human beings.

It would be easy to list the challenges that our students face in 2022. As daunting as the list might be, I am not sure that every generation has not felt a similar angst when confronted with the challenges of their time. The years we spend in high school are always a time of great growth and change, physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. This period of our lives is difficult in itself. Combine this with making decisions in a world that is not orientated to seeing a positive future, it can become overwhelming. We know that the realization of dreams often becomes solidified in high school. The ingredient that enables us to see our dreams, our future, and take the path of God’s desire for us is hope.

Jesuit is a conduit for this hope. You could not ask for a better environment to have this transformation take place in than one that helps students feel supported, loved and cared for. Jesuit is a place that has at its core a firm spiritual foundation. It is a place that forms students who know Jesus Christ and feel themselves loved, saved and forgiven. It is a place that forms students full of the hope that Christ’s Resurrection brings all of us.

May this Easter be especially full of hope for all of us as we rejoice as people of God.
